Coast to Coast Group Tour
Your Coast to Coast group tour begins in the world’s most iconic city: New York. This buzzing metropolis has been the inspiration for so much popular culture and our adventure leaders will enable you to unlock the magic of The Big Apple. Kick things off with an afternoon wandering through Manhattan. Uncover the recent tragic events of 9/11 and admire the resilient spirit of the locals with a trip to the Freedom Tower and 9/11 Memorial. Stroll through the Highline Garden before an evening bar-hopping through one of Brooklyn’s hippest districts: Williamsburg.
A morning’s yoga session in Central Park will have you feeling like a New Yorker and then like a Friends character with a trip to a coffee-house. Amble over to one of the city’s famous attractions: The Statue of Liberty. Marvel at the granduer of this American symbol and grab the obligatory photo. More stunning photo opportunities await with a full N.Y.C skyline panorama from the top of the Empire State Buliding. Bid farewell to the “City that never sleeps” as we head over to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C
There can be few finer spots to work out than on the steps on Lincoln Memorial and we’ll start our D.C. day with an (optional) work out class here. We’ll then guide you through the treasure trove of stellar sights with a city tour taking in the White House, Capitol Hill and the National Mall. There’s also a chance to check out the city’s museums and visit the Martin Luther King Memorial. After a busy, walking day- we’ll relax in the park before an evening at a local jazz bar.
We’ll take the short train ride to Philadelphia. Just like a young Fresh Prince – we’ll “shoot some b-ball” at a local basketball court before discovering the delights of the city. No trip to Philly would be complete without sampling the legendary Philly Cheese steaks and there’s nowhere better then Geno’s. Burn off those calories by doing the Rocky run up the steps of the Museum of Art and see the world-renowned Liberty Bell. That evening – we’ll head over to Fishtown where we’ll admire the urban art and take part in another quintessentially American activity: beer pong!
Head up the coast towards Boston and we’ll spend the afternoon out on the ocean- looking out for whales. View these impressive sea creatures with awesome views of the harbour on your return to Beantown. Having feasted your eyes on the ocean- now satisfy your taste buds with an Oyster Happy Hour in the heart of the city. That evening, either check out a Red Sox game or laugh the night away with an Improv Comedy performance.
It’s now time for something totally different as head out to Cape Cod and experience the relaxed vibes of this gorgeous array of fishing towns. We’ll leave our luggage in Boston and take the ferry over to the Cape where we’ll cycle (or taxi) over the charming town of Provincetown. Stroll amidst the buzzing streets and check out the boutique shops and foodie scene. There’s also a nature reserve to discover and a beautiful stretch of beach to relax upon. That evening- sample some of the local lobster and enjoy a drink on the ocean.
Enjoy a morning on the Cape before heading back, via a lovely bike ride (or taxi) and ferry, to the city. Step back in time with a walk along the Freedom Trail- this tour uncovers Boston’s fascinating history and the role it played in the War of Independence. Having been educated on this key aspect of the history of the U.S- we’ll explore one of the city’s famous districts with a night out in the buzzing district of Southie. For dinner- we’ll teach you how to make a local favourite: clam chowder.
Day 8- Fly to Las Vegas
Catch a flight (included in the price) to Las Vegas. This infamous den of vice, excitement and razzmatazz is home to some truly awe-inspiring hotels, casinos and plenty more. We’ll wander along the Strip and you can admire the neon majesty of the establishments lining the route. Sleep in or head out to take a pic of the Vegas sign. We’ll also visit some of the striking hotels along the Strip. Feel like a Roman at Casear’s Palace, King Arthur in Excalibur or ride the rollercoasters of Circus Circus- we can guarantee it’ll never get dull. Another classic Vegas experience with an afternoon’s pool party before a further evening to take in the delights of the local charms. If understatement is your thing- then Vegas might not be for you- but it’s a great, unique and utterly American experience!
Day 10- Grand Canyon
From the big-city buzz to another slice of Americana with a trip from the bright lights to the remote grandeur of the Grand Canyon. We’ll arrive in time to get supplies and then set up camp on the Southern Rim of the Canyon and get set for a stunning sunset.
Day 11- Grand Canyon
An unforgettable day awaits as we step into the unknown with a full day out in the Canyon. Marvel at the majesty of the Canyon itself- a mile deep, 277 miles long and 18 miles wide- this National Park holds all the cards when it comes to mesmorising views. Discover the fascinating history of the Native American communities who lived here. Wander from one stunning panorama to the next and take incredible photos or soak up the surroundings. We don’t want to rush this experience so we’ll stay overnight, in the park, and sample bourbon whiskey under the stars as we take in 6 millions years of history. Please note you can hike at your own pace as the hikes themselves will not be guided but we’ll provide all the info and maps you need!
Day 12- Grand Canyon-Flagstaff
Live like a Cowboy with a classic experience in the midst of the Canyon itself. That afternoon, we’ll visit a gun club (optional) and hear more about how gun culture is a major part of the American pysche. Hear arguments from both sides about it’s impact and learn more about the history of guns in the U.S. Time to relax in the evening with a trip to a craft brewery. Lots of states are proud of our their local brew and we’ll give you plenty of opportunities to pick your favourite as we criss-cross the country.
Day 13- Route 66
Route 66 is one of America’s most epic road trips and we’ll tackle a signifcant section on this day of travelling. Either gaze out of the window and take in the epic wilderness outside or relax and enjoy a movie with the free wi-fi on board. It’s a good day to recharge your batteries before another few days of action-packed adventures. There’s still fun to be had, that evening, with a chance to gaze at the stars from the Griffith Observatory. That evening – we’ll arrive to L.A- ready to discover the city’s headline acts over the next few days.
Day 14- Los Angeles
After a few days in the remote desert- it’s time for a taste of modern, city life in one of the world’s coolest cities: Los Angeles. We’ll start our time here with an in-line skating experience along Venice Beach before cooling off with a frozen yoghurt. Whilst at Santa Monica Pier- we’ll take part in the Coyote Trip Arcade Challenge before a classic California burger lunch! That afternoon- venture up the famous Hollywood sign and look down at the city beneath. An evening in the city starts with a wander down Hollywood Boulevard and spot the stars on the Walk of Fame.
Day 15- Los Angeles
Today – you can visit one of the city’s famous theme parks. The delights of Universal Studios or Disneyland await and both are jam-packed with entertainment, fun and a fair bit of magic! We can help arrange your tickets and give you tips on the best rides, attractions and shows. Alternatively, we also arrange a chance to give something back to the LA community with a volunteering trip to one of the city’s soup kitchens.
