The Western Canada Combo Tour at a glance:

Day 1: Welcome to Vancouver

Your Western Canada Combo Tour starts today! Touch down in Vancouver, head to your hostel, and meet your Adventure Leader and group in the reception area. After saying hello, your Leader will give you a briefing, where you’ll find out what to expect over the coming trip, and get any tips on adjusting to Canadian life.

This evening, you and your group will enjoy an included dinner and visit to Sunset Beach, basking in the views of the English Bay. After this, you might want to check out the Roxy Cabaret, or one of the many other bars and pubs in the Granville Entertainment District.

Day 2: Vancouver

This morning, orient yourself properly with the ‘VANconic’ walking and public transit tour around the city. This includes Seabus ride over to Lonsdale Quay, where you’ll get a chance to stop for lunch. We’ll visit Stanley Park, Canada Place and the 2010 Olympic Cauldron, Gastown – and more besides!

Then, this afternoon is yours to do with as you please. Explore the city at your leisure, and feel free t ask your guide for recommendations on the local area. You might want to head to Granville Island, the Museum of Anthropology, or the Vancouver Aquarium.

In the early evening, you’ll head to False Creek and English Bay for a sightseeing mini-cruise. Then, you and your group can head into the former Olympic Village for dinner together.

Day 3: Whistler

You’re up early today, ready to transfer to your next stop: Whistler. You’ll arrive in the late morning, drop your things at the accommodation, and head on a highlight walking tour of the village – including a stop for lunch.

This afternoon, we’ll take to the skies for the best views across Whistler, with a spot of alpine hiking. While you’re up there, you’ll ride the PEAK 2 PEAK gondola that connects Whistler Mountain with Blackcomb Mountain, where you’ll get amazing 360-degree views of the mountains, village, forests and lakes that span the region.

After that, head back to your personal pod in your new hotel in the heart of the village, and have a well-deserved chill out! Then, after dinner, check out the village’s busy nightlife scene. It is an adventure resort, after all!

Day 4: Whistler

You’ll start your day with an amazing cultural experience at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center. This center, a collaborative project between the Squamish and Lil’wat Indigenous Nations, seeks to share cultural knowledge and respect amongst all people. During your visit, you’ll enjoy a hand drum welcome song, inspiring short film, and guided exhibit tour with a Cultural Ambassador from one of the host First Nations.

The afternoon and evening are free time for you to explore the area at your leisure. You might want to make the most of your time with an adventure activity or a spot of exploring – be sure to ask your guide for recommendations.

Day 5: Victoria

Rise and shine! You’re on an early bus bound for Vancouver. A quick change for another bus bound for the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, before you jump on a scenic boat ride to take you across the Salish Sea. You’ll arrive on Vancouver Island to head into your next stop: Victoria! After you’ve checked in to the accommodation, take some time to rest up before a group dinner in the early evening.

We hope you’re not afraid of the dark… This evening, you’ll be taking a nighttime trip around British Columbia’s most haunted city, as you embark on the spoooooky Ghostly Walks tour!

Day 6: Victoria

You’ve seen the city by night, but this morning you’ll see it by day with a highlights walking tour. You’ll take in the best bits of Downtown Victoria, including Chinatown, Bastion Square, the Empress Hotel, the Parliament Buildings, and Beacon Hill Park. Make sure you stop for lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf – and try the delicious fish & chips at Barb’s!

In the afternoon, take in the sights of British Columbia’s capital under your own steam, and be sure to ask your guide for any must-dos. One amazing option could be to head whale-watching!

This evening, challenge your group and prove your mettle – you’re going axe-throwing!

Day 7: Vancouver

Next on your Western Canada Combo Tour, we’re heading back into Vancouver. You’ll take that beautiful ferry ride back to the mainland, where you’ll head to your accommodation to drop your things. Then, you’ll head on a craft beer brewery tour with your Leader – where samples are, of course, included as you go.

Pop back to your hostel to chill out, before heading out for your final meal. Join your group for dinner, and – if you didn’t get your fill at the brewery tour earlier – some last night drinks in the city.

Day 8: Transfer to Banff

You’re transferring to Banff today, for the next leg of your Western Canada Combo Tour.

You’ll check into your hostel in the in the late evening, after which you’ll meet your Adventure Leader for the next few days. They’ll introduce themselves, talk you through your itinerary, and give you any tips on getting used to the local area.

Day 9: Jasper

Today is a full-on day, so this morning we’ll stock up on plenty of food to last us the day before we head off. It’s an epic day of sightseeing, walks/hikes and wildlife spotting in Banff and Jasper National Parks today as we travel the Icefields Parkway! Highlights include Lake Louise, Moraine Lake (seasonal), Peyto Lake and Athabasca Falls. Later on, we’ll walk the trails and bridges in the upper section of Maligne Canyon.

Once we’re back in Jasper, we’ll check into our hostel and get cleaned up, before we head out into the Jasper townsite to explore. After that – dinner time! We’ll take you to Jasper Pizza after a long day’s exploring.

Day 10: Banff

We’re back on the Parkway today, as we continue exploring! On our travels today, we’ll pay a visit to the spectacular Sunwapta Falls. We’ll also hike the Toe of the Glacier trail all the way to the Athabasca Glacier at the Columbia Icefield, and visit amazing spots like Bow Lake.

Back in Banff at your next hostel, you’ll be able to talk through your options for tomorrow with your Adventure Leader, where they’ll help you book your plans for your free day!

Put your feet up briefly before you head down to Cougar Pete’s restaurant in the hostel for a delicious dinner. Then, if you’ve still got some energy left, head out to take advantage of Banff’s legendary nightlife scene!

Day 11: Banff

We’ve shown you all our favourite bits of the Parkway over the last few days, so today you can do as you please! If you’ve booked any exciting adventures, you might be going horse-riding, taking a cave tour, or even treating yourself to a once in a lifetime helicopter flight! Otherwise, you can join your Adventure Leader on an easy hike of some local trails, before you enjoy a free afternoon.

This evening marks the last dinner with your group, so head into town for some tasty food. Then we’ll end your tour with an unmissable visit to the Banff Upper Hot Springs under the evening sky.

Day 12: Farewell

Sadly, today brings your Western Canada Combo Tour to a close, so you’ll bid farewell to your new friends!

Private room upgrades:
During the West Coast Adventure portion of the trip, room upgrade options are available in Vancouver or Victoria – however, there are no upgrade options available in Whistler. For the Rockies portion of the tour, we can look at private rooms upon request. Upgrade options start from around £1,000 for a single room for the Combo Tour. Please email info@thecoyotetrip.com if you’d like to know more.

Pre- and post-night accommodation:
We recommend that passengers book any pre- or post-nights of accommodation themselves. However, for hostels in Vancouver, we do recommend the HI Vancouver Downtown Hostel as the best option. In Banff, we recommend the HI Banff Alpine Centre.

Airport transfers:
We don’t offer private airport transfers from Vancouver airport, as the public transport system in Vancouver is very well-connected. We recommend passengers take the Canada Line train from the airport to downtown, where you can easily make your way to the hostel. This costs around CA$10. Alternatively, Lyft or Uber options are available, which will cost between CA$30-35.

In Banff, we offer an airport shuttle transfer service to Calgary airport, which is the closest to Banff. This upgrade costs £55 – email info@thecoyotetrip.com for more information.
