If you’ve finally booked the Canadian adventure of your dreams, the excitement starts now! On our Coyote Trips across Canada, you’ll go from city streets to hiking trails, so it’s important to make sure that you’ve got everything you need to stay prepared – and ready to enjoy everything your tour has to offer. So, we’ve done the hard work for you – here’s our ultimate Canada packing list for your amazing group tour!
Clothing
You’ll be both at sea level and up in the mountains, so the weather is prone to change. It’s therefore important to make sure that you’re prepared for both heats – layers are key! In addition, all our trips involve a lot of exploring on foot, so pair or two of comfortable shoes will make all the difference.
- T-shirts, vests & tops
- Shorts & trousers
- A fleece for any colder weather
- A waterproof jacket – you never know!
- Comfortable shoes
- A pair of walking or hiking shoes
- PJs
- Swimwear
- Socks & underwear
- If you’re heading out – in Vancouver, for example – you might want a slightly smarter outfit for the evenings. However, make sure you can pack it away in your rucksack!
Toiletries
You can find almost everything you need toiletries-wise in Canada, so you’ll only really need to take the basics. However, if you’ve got any specific preferences or needs, you might want to bring your own bits.
- Shampoo/conditioner (if you’re tight on space, a shampoo bar could be a great, eco-friendly option!)
- Soap/shower gel
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Suncream – even if it’s cooler weather, you’ll still need it!
- Hairbrush & products (dry shampoo, etc.)
- Any prescribed medications you take, such as the contraceptive pill
- Make-up, if you wear it!
- A basic first aid kit is always handy – with blister plasters, mild painkillers such as paracetamol, or anti-bacterial gel, for example.
Accessories
If you’re a fan of a gadget, it’s important to make sure that you’ve got everything you need with it – because there’s nothing worse than arriving on your trip to realise that you’ve missed something crucial! We’d always recommend being space-conscious when you pack (as it’s better to have a small rucksack rather than something too big), but some key items might be:
- Phone & charger
- Camera, charger – and maybe even a spare memory card if you’re snap-happy!
- Headphones – you’ll be travelling a lot, so it’s handy to have these if you’d like to zone out for a while.
- A plug adaptor – Canada uses type A and type B sockets, so if your country of origin doesn’t use these as standard, you’ll need an adaptor to use your electronics.
- A water bottle – travelling eco-friendly and hydrated is key!
- A small rucksack for day trips
- A good book – or a Kindle, for keen readers
- A cross-body or waist-fastening bag, for safekeeping important items
- Sunglasses & a sun hat
- A travel wallet – to keep all your documents together!
Essentials
Finally, the most important part of any Canada packing list – your documents! There’s a few bits you’ll need to keep track of in order to make your tour run as smoothly as possible, and we’d always recommend keeping these together so that you can look after them.
- Your passport – a photocopy is always handy to have too.
- Proof of your Visa or eTA, if required
- Local currency (CAD)
- Debit cards & travel cards
- Your plane/travel tickets
- A copy of your travel insurance
- Copies of any self-arranged booking reservations
- Your ‘in case of emergency’ (ICE) contacts
- Your driver’s licence
Though this is a general Canada packing list, it’s a great starting point for getting yourself prepared for your amazing group tour across the Great White North. However, if you have any specific questions, our Customer Services team are always on hand to answer questions at info@thecoyotetrip.com.
