We'll take you through the foodie heaven of New Orleans, historical Montgomery and Atlanta, and the musical paradise of Nashville. Then, get into a New York state of mind before you head to the nation's capital, through Philly, and onto Boston.
The South to East USA Combo Tour collects everything that’s great about America – the food, the music, the sights and the sounds. We’ll take you on a Mississippi River cruise in New Orleans and get you honky-tonking in Nashville, experience the finest jazz in Washington DC and walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. You’ll get a glimpse of everything, from the natural world of Louisiana to the architectural prowess of the White House – all in one action-packed adventure.

Day 1-3: New Orleans
Absorb the rich history of The Big Easy and experience the most unique city in America. Sample delicious Creole cooking, step out into nature on our swamp and plantation tour, and cruise down the Mississippi.

Day 4-5: Montgomery
Wander amidst the historically rich city streets of the birthplace of the civil rights movement. Explore this significant area of the American story and sample some soul food.

Day 5-6: Atlanta
Step in the footsteps of giants on an incredible walking tour of the city. Kick back and relax in the city's gorgeous centennial park, as well as exploring why Atlanta is the cultural capital of the South East with its diverse dining and arts scene.

Day 6-8: Nashville
Explore Music City's vibrant food and art scene. Dive right into the heart of the iconic Honky Tonk Highway, with an unforgettable bar crawl along this vibrant Mecca for music lovers.

Day 9-10: New York City
Take in the sights and sounds of one of the world's most exciting cities. Marvel at the stunning skyline, gaze at the Statue of Liberty and learn about the impact of 9/11 at the World Trade Center. Discover Brooklyn's hipster districts, Central Park and stroll The High Line.

Day 11-12: Washington D.C
Wander amidst some of the most famous and impressive buildings on the planet with our D.C walking tour taking in the White House and the striking memorials. Dive into the D.C.'s renowned nightlife scene in one of the city's buzzing bars.

Day 13: Philadelphia
Jog up the famous Rocky steps and feel like a superstar. Admire the city's architecture and take in one of the country's most important symbols: The Liberty Bell. Enjoy some of the local sports from basketball in the morning to the equally intense beer pong.

Day 14-15: Boston
Follow historical footsteps on a journey of discovery on the fascinating Freedom Trail. Witness whales in their natural habitat- way out into the ocean. Visit Harvard University and enjoy live comedy on a typical Boston night out.
South to East USA Combo Tour
Day 1: New Orleans
Meet the group at midday day at our accommodation in the heart of New Orleans. You’ll kick off your amazing South to East USA Combo Tour by sampling a killer po’boy for lunch! We’ll then step into the French Quarter and discover more about this aspect of the city.
This action-packed day continues with a Steamboat Jazz Cruise on the Mississippi before bar-hopping your way down Bourbon Street.
Day 2: New Orleans
A classic New Orleans experience awaits with a fresh beignet followed by riding in style on an antique street car! We’ll then explore the enchanting Garden district before visiting our favourite Creole spot: Joey K’s.
That evening, enjoy the musical delights of Frenchmen Street!
Day 3: New Orleans
You’ve got a full day out today at the Swamp and Plantation tour. Experience the magic of the surroundings with an expert guide and learn about the rich history of the local communities and how the natural splendour is preserved.
Day 4: New Orleans to Montgomery
Hop on the bus to Montgomery and enjoy some Southern vistas as you watch the world go by outside the window. Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy a free evening in the capital of Alabama.
Day 5: Montgomery to Atlanta
Today, focus on the fascinating history of this town with a stroll through key historical sites on the “Capital of Contradictions” walking tour. It’s then time to check out the Legacy Museum, before sampling some delicious Soul Food at Pannie-George’s.
Bid farewell to Alabama, and then get Georgia on your mind with a trip to Atlanta.
Day 6: Atlanta to Nashville
Start the day with the “Steps of Giants” tour, where we’ll visit the grave of Martin Luther King, as well as a whole host of other key spots in the fight for civil rights.
You’ll chill out in Centennial Park before making our way to Music City! It’s time to enjoy the delights of the iconic city of Nashville.
Day 7: Nashville
Discover the city on a food and art tour, before cutting a rug with a Country Line Dance class.
Then, line your stomach in the best possible way at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, before hitting the Honky Tonk Highway. This centre for music lovers plays host to a range of bar pumping out classic tunes all day and all night long!
Day 8: Nashville to NYC
Fly to New York in the morning – this flight is included in the tour but you’ll make your own way to and from the airports to the included accommodation in NYC.
Enjoy an afternoon in the Big Apple as you adjust from the South to the magic of NYC!
Day 9: New York
The second leg of your South to East Combo Tour kicks off today! The buzzing metropolis of NYC has been the inspiration for so much, and our Adventure Leaders will enable you to unlock the magic of The Big Apple.
We’ll all take the ferry over to one of the city’s famous attractions: The Statue of Liberty. Marvel at the grandeur of this American symbol – and grab the obligatory photo.
Uncover the recent tragic events of 9/11 and admire the resilient spirit of the locals with a trip to the Freedom Tower and 9/11 Memorial. Wander across the striking Brooklyn Bridge before an evening bar-hopping through one of Brooklyn’s hippest districts: Williamsburg.
Day 10: New York
Start the day by walking the High Line, then savour the flavours of the Chelsea Market.
Feel like a true New Yorker as you explore the buzzing Bushwick, exploring everything it’s got to offer on a street art walking tour. Explore the vintage stores and indie cafes as you go.
Tonight, enjoy a free night in the city.
Day 11: Washington D.C.
Bid farewell to NYC as we head over to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. Arriving there just in time for lunch, savour a delicious chill bowl at Obama’s favourite spot: Ben’s!
Explore the historic and picturesque Georgetown, or go visit the Arlington National Cemetery.
Day 12: Washington D.C.
We’ll guide you through the “Washington Revelations” tour and a treasure trove of stellar sights, taking in the White House, Capitol Hill and the National Mall. There’s also a chance to check out the city’s museums, including the African American History Museum, or a visit to the Martin Luther King Memorial.
After a busy day of walking, we’ll relax in the park before an evening at a local jazz bar – or join our hostel’s board game night.
Day 13: Philadelphia
This morning, we’ll take the short train ride to Philadelphia.
No trip to Philly would be complete without sampling the legendary Philly Cheesesteaks – and our favourite spot will not disappoint. Burn off those calories by doing the Rocky – run up the steps of the Museum of Art to see the world-renowned Liberty Bell.
This evening we’ll head over to Fishtown, where we’ll admire the urban art and take part in another quintessentially American activity: beer pong!
Day 14: Boston
Head up the coast towards Boston – a city packed with history, culture and great coffee!
That evening, walk across the Boston Common to the North End (also known as Little Italy) for dinner, and to try a world-famous cannoli from Mike’s Pastry. If you want, you can also catch a baseball game at iconic and historic Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox.
Day 15: Boston
Today, head out to the ocean for a spot of whale-watching. Try and spot these impressive sea creatures if you can, with awesome views of the harbour on your return to Boston.
Having feasted your eyes on the ocean, now satisfy your taste buds with Lobster rolls in the heart of the city. Then, we’ll visit Harvard, America’s oldest university, before we gather for a group dinner.
Day 16: Farewell!
Today marks the end of your South to East USA Combo Tour. However, let us know if you’d like to extend your stay in Boston!

A deposit is required to make a reservation on our South to East USA Combo Tour, with the balance due 70 days prior to departure (unless booking with one of our promotions, for which specific balance due dates may apply).
The deposit is 10% of the group tour price (unless stated otherwise). If you book on to our tours less than 70 days prior to departure, the full balance will be due within 3 days of booking.
The price of a single room upgrade for the South to East USA Combo Tour is £2,045. The price of a twin/double room upgrade is £555 per person. We can arrange any pre-trip nights of accommodation in New Orleans and any post-trip nights in Boston. Please let us know at least 5 working days before the trip starts if you would like any of these extras adding onto your booking.
